We are extremely proud of our European Chef Director, Jon Grima, who won the Malta JCI TOYP award for Business, Economic and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishments!
Throughout the pandemic, the Thomas Franks Malta team have provided over 30,000 free, fresh meals to three major hospitals, including the Mater Dei Hospital, St Thomas Hospital and Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, as well as providing meals for vulnerable families within local communities, migrants and homeless communities.
Jon was nominated for his work alongside JCI Malta in the height of the pandemic. ‘Jon has helped JCI Malta with over 300 meals for the ‘Buy a Meal’ initiative, which was run over a two-month period. His sterling work and commitment was truly evident. Whenever there were hiccups from our side like logistics, misunderstanding, or miscommunication, he was always very patient and understanding. These are traits of a good leader. Jon is also a down-to-earth person and a pleasure to deal with both verbally and non-verbally. He is proactive and always comes with ideas and suggestions on how we can make service even better. This is a very rare quality from a supplier that you would deal with.’
We asked Founder, Frank Bothwell, about what Jon and his team had done, ‘When I asked Jon to embrace the food aid charity concept of ‘Feeding Communities’, he said give me a day to assemble plans. Within 12 hours he was feeding homeless, migrants, families in food poverty due to Covid-19. Within weeks he was feeding ICU teams at both of Malta’s Hospitals. Jon’s leadership has so far delivered, free of charge, over 30,000 nutritious chilled meals across Malta. He and his team are an inspiration.’
This particular award holds prestige, especially as it means that Jon’s work has been recognised by the community.
Well done to all the other winners and nominees.
