The Thomas Franks Foundation has taken delivery of a bespoke emission free vehicle to deliver hot meals to homeless people in Central London.

The vehicle has been donated by Barings, one of the world’s largest asset managers, as part of their ongoing support of the charity’s Feeding Communities programme. The vehicle was officially launched during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 20 Old Bailey, Barings’ London office, on Tuesday 25th March.

The new electric vehicle will enable the delivery of more than 50,000 meals a year, an increase of 138%. It will also increase the number of volunteering opportunities available from 200 to 500, giving Barings’ employees the chance to directly support their local community.

Over the last five years, Barings has produced more than 165,000 meals and donated more than £425,000 to support Feeding Communities.

Alex Sutherland, CFO (Europe) at Barings, said “We are very proud to support the Feeding Communities program and are delighted to be able to donate this vehicle to enable the delivery of more meals and support even more people in our community.”

Frank Bothwell, CEO and Founder of Thomas Franks, said: “I am incredibly proud of our partnership with Barings. They share our longstanding commitment to helping people in need and making a difference in the communities where they live and work. This first-of-its-kind electric vehicle will become the linchpin of the Thomas Franks Foundation’s operations in London, allowing us to reach more people in need when they need us. I am grateful to Barings for their generous support, and I look forward to joining their team on the streets this evening.”
