Daisy is one of our current apprentices working within one of our first-ever locations, Sibford School near Oxford. Upon meeting Daisy, you’re greeted with a friendly and caring character, which is evident in her masterclass appearances with the passion and care she brings to her dishes and learning.
We caught up with Daisy to find out more about how she is finding the apprenticeship, the masterclasses, and her favourite meal to cook at home.
What has been your favourite thing to learn throughout the masterclasses?
I’d have to say my favourite thing I’ve learnt from the masterclasses so far is how to make choux pastry and also making pasta dough as that’s something I have always wanted to try, I now find myself doing this more and more to get better, which also helps me out in my own kitchen too!
When you’re at home, what is something you always love to cook that brings great memories?
I’ve always loved cooking anything with a Bolognese, spaghetti or cottage pie, because it’s a firm childhood favourite of mine and you can’t go wrong! My top tip would have to be love it and leave it alone!
What is your favourite memory whilst you have worked at Thomas Franks?
My favourite memory from being with TF so far is the masterclass, they’re great opportunities to learn but I’ve also made some really great friends already.
How do you feel the masterclasses have impacted you as a person?
I feel like the masterclasses have changed me as a person because they have massively built my confidence. At first I was very nervous at the start, worrying about if I would do well or not, but everyone there created such a friendly and comfortable environment that it’s now building my confidence each time I go. The apprenticeship as a whole has also changed me for the better as I’ve managed to push mysself out of my comfort zone which is something I never thought I’d do!
